AIGA Austin

AIGA Austin will be sponsoring an Art Book/ Poster Swap at conjunctured on Saturday, July 11th from Noon to 3pm. Designers tend to collect design-related book and posters. An art book and poster swap is simple in practice: people bring art books (and posters) and swap for other books that have been collected from a wide variety of donors.

Exchange It! Book Swap is participatory, cooperative and enterprising. It is a cycle of interchange and circulation. It encourages community and rejuvenation. Art viewing, be it in galleries or museums, is intrinsically a social activity. Art Book Swap symbiotically engages with this activity, in addition to accomplishing a number of goals:

• Injects social energy into inherently private pursuits (reading, book collecting).
• Creates an interconnecting network of information and interchange between strangers.
• Reshapes an untold number of private book collections by reenergizing them with new materials and topics.

All books that remain at the end of the swap will be donated to Goodwill.
Proceeds from the swap will be donated to Austin Center for Design

Exchange It! Book Swap is $5 for members of AIGA and $15 for non-members or members who can’t part with their current collection. We are limiting the number of participants to 50 so please register by sending an email to the contact below.
